Release Date: March 27, 2015

Director: Noah Baumbach

Overall Rating: Good

A couple in their early 40s get a rejuvenating zest for life when they befriend a couple in their 20s.

The Good

The movie isn’t a bombshell of a comedy but there are plenty of comedic moments that are mostly sharp witted and sometimes silly. Also notable is the cast, which includes Ben Stiller, Naomi Watts, Adam Driver and Amanda Seyfried. While We’re Young delivers great performances from a cast that has great chemistry.

The Bad

There’s not a lot at stake in While We’re Young. Pretty much nothing. It’s a bunch of well crafted jokes loosely tied to one small idea.  It’s a funny film but otherwise it doesn’t resound in any way.

The Ugly

The view of youth in this movie isn’t very encouraging. The younger couple doesn’t have the same ideals as their older counterparts. They’ll do whatever it takes to get ahead and the movie basically says about this, “It’s OK. They’re young.” But I don’t know if it is OK.
