In the second installment of the Divergent series, Tris (Shailene Woodley) and company are on the run from Jeanine’s (Kate Winslet) oppressive regime, who need Tris to fulfill their plans of domination.
Divergent has an entertaining story that will keep you in suspense as it takes a few left turns and throws out a variety of action scenes sprinkled evenly throughout.
The writing feels a bit week. Every thing that happens in Divergent services Tris’ need to prevail. When a situation gets too tough for Tris, there’s no need to worry about her. There’s someone just about to show up and help her out of her jam. This is how most of the tension in Divergent is resolved.
The ending didn’t feel nearly weighty enough. In the first movie of the franchise, Divergent, an entire faction gets murdered, as well as Tris’ parents. That was an ending! What happens at the end of Insurgent isn’t even close to a measured resolution to what happened in the previous film.« « Jurassic World | While We’re Young » »
