A tightly wound police officer (Reese Witherspoon) and the witness (Sofía Vergara) she’s taken into custody are on the run from a drug lord.
There’s not a lot of positive things you can say about Hot Pursuit. The best thing it has going for it is that It’s only 87 minutes long and breezes by quickly enough. It’ll be over before you know it.
There’s not much more to Hot Pursuit than it’s premise. In the end, it barely even lives up to that. There’s a point in the movie when Reese Witherspoon’s character starts putting Sofía Vergara’s character in handcuffs. But here’s the thing. She’s not her prisoner. She’s a witness. Reese Witherspoon’s character has no business putting her in handcuffs. That’s just a taste of what you can expect here. A movie that’s even dumber that the dumb movie it promises to be.
Reese Witherspoon aims for the fences with her character. She’s really going for something. Unfortunately the character ends up being more annoying than funny.« « Unfriended | Wet Hot American Summer » »
