Director: Jonathan Milott, Cary Murnion

Overall Rating: Ugly

A virus spreads across an elementary school, turning children into flesh eating monsters.

The Good

There are plenty of worthwhile scenes in Cooties, including both tense and lighthearted moments. The pace of the movie is also worth noting. It races along. Love it or hate it, it’ll be over before you know it.

The Bad

The tone of Cooties is unpolished. It tries for something similar to “Shaun of the Dead”, mixing comedy with horror. The end result doesn’t work, though. Maybe there are too many jokes. Maybe there is too much horror. Whatever it is, the concoction isn’t quite right.

The Ugly

It’s certainly off putting that children are the villains of the movie, that they need to be killed in order for the protagonists to live. It’s easy to understand that some will have trouble watching children turn into monsters.
