Director: Oren Peli

Overall Rating: Bad

After being involved in a strange, unexplained incident, a young man convinces his two friends to locate and break in to Area 51, a secret U.S. government-run base believed to be involved in alien experiments.

The Good

Area 51 delivers in a few areas. There are some tense moments and some interesting reveals. The last 30 minutes of this movie, in particular, are very exciting. The whole of the movie, however, is not.

The Bad

It’s easy to take sound for granted when watching a movie. But, when the sound is bad, like it is in Area 51, you don’t take it for granted. If you have to struggle to understand the characters, then you’re going to struggle to enjoy the movie.

The Ugly

Area 51 has a pretty satisfying third act. The unfortunate part is that you have to slog through the first two acts to get to it.
